Well, had a peep in my hand. Rooster snatched her real quick.... Makes me pretty sick, causing so much pain to the little one.
This all happened Saturday, she seems to be doing pretty good. Kind of amazing really.. being that half dollar piece of skin was ripped off :(

WOW i ain't never seen that happen, glad the baby is doing ok.
We had them screened in the nesting box, nobody was pecking at the screen.. Just looking at them and kinda talking. I should have never picked her up, and put her in that situation.
Doing better every day... Throats probably little damaged too, eats like they drink.. drinking takes twice as long.
I've had a huge cornish cross roo do that, but I was too late getting the chick, he swallowed it whole while it was still alive! Your chickie is very lucky!
Swallowed whole! OMG... It all happedned so fast, rooster grabbed chic, I grabbed rooster. When I put her back in the nesting box, she ran into the little carboard box(mini cooper) The other chic was looking like *** just happened. Then I noticed blood on my hand, and we found the big chunk of skin in the yard.
wow..that's crazy..I thought they were protective of their hens and offspring??!
Protective of hens and us some times. Chics dont belong to them, chics are there replacements.
Wifes been doing the Chicken thing for 3 months now(looking over BYC for over a year, started it all). We got 4 hens < so we thought, 2 leghorns, 2 Silver Laced Wyandottes. Turns out we had a pair of each... Roosters started getting crazy at 3 months. We found a rooster rescue in FWB, they were coming Sunday...... day too late.
Of course the feed store down the street had little baby chic's last week, so we grabbed two. 1 Blue Wyandotte, and a Golden Laken Vetter < name spelling? We had them fenced off in the coop for everyone to get use to each other... shouldnt have picked her up :(

no, I started to type a response to another post and somehow it stuck it in this thread. :)

That is weird. My rooster was very protective of the chicks. Kept the mean older hens away from them. Since it was in your hen did he know it was a chick? I mean, they are omnivores and do eat things like mice and frogs.
