does anyone know why the dates on google searches are so messed up for BYC? ANCIENT posts with no activity will be marked with a 2019 date in my search results on google but then when I get to the thread and read through it, the post hasn’t been touched since 2012.

It’s frustrating because once a thread goes dead, it’s pretty much dead and so for that reason I try and start my searches with recent threads.

On that note, is there a way to reset notifications or opt in for more notifications? If you miss a notification, you never get another for that thread, and I feel like I lose track easily of threads I was trying to stay on top of.

Can you take a screenshot of what you're seeing with these dates?

Also, if you go to your watch threads list...when you click on a thread to view it from there, it will take you to the last post you read in that thread.

Like this morning I was researching sexing welsummers and webbed feet on marans.

Here’s a welsummer thread that is dated for 2019 in google but hasn’t been active since 2014.

That's also the reason I was asking about notifications...

I understand some, maybe many, people don't ever come back to the site after a while, but some people who are currently active may have old posts that may not be showing in their notifications and so aren't getting notified that someone has a follow up question years later, that they may be able to answer. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

When was the last post in that thread made? I think it may go off when it was last updated, not when the first post was made.

I don't think Google is dating the thread... just the last time BYC was updated. Things change on BYC daily, and I visit the site regularly, so I'd expect it to have today's date or a recent date.

It's great that BYC has archives of all this info for us to look at, a thread doesn't need to be recent to be relevant.

When you search within BYC, by clicking on "time" you can narrow your results to only include threads/posts within a certain date range.
