i would like to add dates to my oatmeal mixture for my hens. Would dates be safe for the hens?

I think dates are ok I looked it up as long as it's not moldy I think it will be fine also if you want to try something chickens love bagels and even stale crackers

Probably, fine in very small amounts.

Keep anything other than a balanced chicken ration to less than 10% of daily ration consumption.

Thank you everyone for your replies. As it turns out, everyone is still alive! I made my huge crockpot with oats, nuts and dates, cooked it overnight, and they have a yummy breakfast. They ate everything and left me only pits in the bottom of the pot!

How many birds do you have?
That's sounds like a great human breakfast...but not so much for chickens.
I hope they have a regular balanced chicken ration too.
