We are moving to Forest Ranch, California and we've got 2+ acres of pine forest. Although I have no chicken/foul experience we have had an African Grey, conures, cockatiels, and finches.
I think I want to get a pair of California Quail and introduce their young adult offspring to the property.

I found out about BackYardChickens.com from a web search.

I am an active retiree caring for my disabled spouse, a couple of Min Pins, a Chihuahua, 3 indoor cats, a veiled chameleon, and assorted tropical frogs/toad.

Ronott1, If quail are already up there I will do what I can to enhance their environment.

I want California quail for the visual and audio experience. As a vegan I am not interested in coturnix quail and don't want to introduce a non-native species.
