Dawnridge Farm - raising Heritage Delaware Poultry

Hi all!
We are breeding the wonderful Delaware chicken! It is one of the "critical" breeds on the Livestock Conservancy list. We are working towards getting the bird back to what is was intended for - being at adult weight at 12-14 weeks for butchering and being a good brown egg layer. Please ask me any questions! We love our birds! We are located in Northern CA, near Sacramento.

Hi,

I raise Delawares, also, and live northwest of Sacramento. Welcome to BYC!

Hello Erin! We are in Redding CA. I have been researching for a while now for a very very good meat and egg bread and I keep coming across the Delaware chickens! I've always loved them as a kid. I am interested primarily in a sustainable breed of chicken for my family homestead. I want to move FAr FAr away from broilers and Cornish cross as I believe that they are in no way healthy to eat. In my research I came across you and it seems like you are the only one "so far" that I've found that is taking this breed seriously. I look forward to purchasing a min of 100 chicks as my first order from you once my land is ready for them. Thanks again for your commitment to the Delaware heritage breed. Letanya 💕
