Day 1, 110 degrees for 5 hours... are the eggs ruined??

Okau

Yes, the temperature can be too cold. The lowest for normal growth, but maybe a slower hatch, would be 97-99*. Even if it was 93-95* for a few hours, I think it would be fine.[/qu

Oh okay! Well mine is at about 97

The eggs might be ruined, sorry. You could always wait until day seven and then candle them. If there is no signs of development then you can chuck them and start over.

Thanks for all the feedback!

I went ahead and got some more to start tomorrow so we have enough time for them to hatch and enjoy the chicks before we take them back to the farm/school is out. I can't decide if I should leave the others in or if that would be upsetting to my class especially if it is very unlikely they survived...?

I would leave the others in. I tried a homemade bator my first year and the temp was all over the place. I literally slept with it so I could check the temp every hour. Although the hatch failed, two made it to internal pip and even chirped. So--it's very possible they are still alive. Did you mark them so you call tell them apart from the new ones?

What did you decide to do with the eggs?
