Chicks day #1!

I’ve changed the paper every few hours to try and keep it all fresh & clean. The chicks have been eating & drinking and playing! I put the ChikQuik in their water and will change & also include tomorrow morning.

Tomorrow I will remove the paper and freshen the pine shavings! I’ve got them placed in our back room with the door closed. They are so easy going so far!

When did you all take yours outside for the first monitored playtime? Also - how soon can I put a branch for them to play and perch on??

*these little beauties are 6 Rhode Island reds

I had newspaper down so they didn’t peck at the shavings over the food.
You might want to switch to paper towels, newspapers are too slick and can cause leg issues, some inks are also toxic to chickens. You're headed the right direction!
