Day 1

YAY! I set the eggs yesterday morning so today is day 1, I set 24 guinea eggs(neighbors eggs and incubator) and 8 chicken eggs (my eggs). Labor day will be the day for the first candling (7 days). Is the 7 day mark the day you'll know whether or not the egg is fertile right? Also the incubator is a little bit over the 99.5 and I can't get the humidity down yet (not alot of water in the incubator but I think the circulation thing is bringing the humidity from our house). The temp is stay between 99 and 101 degrees is this okay?

Yay!! I also set eggs yesterday, so we are "due" at the same time lol. Your temp looks great, but then again this is my first time incubating so Im still a huge newbie there. I wish you (and me) tons of luck though!

the temp is perfect, you should have a beautiful hatch

Are you using a styrofoam incubator too?

I am using my neighbors hova bator (saving up to get a bigger cabinet style) my DH wants to make one with a wine cooler

So, have some unfortunate news about the eggs. Today was day 6, well yesterday I candled several eggs and saw nothing so assumed they weren't fertilized (rooster was young) and decided since I incubated them they were only good for chickens to eat well out of the seven I pulled out, 4 were growing

oh well I wasn't to terribly torn up about it because I assumed none would be fertilized but now I know they are. Well just about 10 minutes ago me and the DH are playing the Wii and I hear a pop.... I open the bator and the smell is undescribable

but at first didn't see anything so I hurried and put the lid back on. So, I said 'huh wonder why it stinks so bad' and grab a flashlight and shine it through, and one of the neighbors guinea eggs didn't explode but it did burst

. I call him and he says to throw them all out, so now I have 5 EE eggs in the bator and extremely sad. Out of those 5 I think only 2 are growing but going to give it till day 10 (they're blue eggs and hard to candle). So discouraging!
