Day 13...

Yeah, and its not time to throw in the towel...

Hatching is as much art as science, you'll get it.

For now, just wait...its not over yet.

No, dont throw in the towel if this hatch doesnt go good. if nothing happens, clean up the incubator with soap and water, dont get water on the electrical parts... get it disinfected good and lets start preparing for the next try. Hopefully you will get some though.

either way, nex go around give us a breakdown of what incubator and equipment we are working with here... In the end... you never know, it may not be anything you did, the eggs could just not be fertile...

After this hatch.... and we unplug the incubator done...... it is a good learning experience to candle the eggs, see if you see anything inside, then crack them open to see if you even had any birds developing.... if so see how far along they were... did they die in the egg early? did they develop most all the way? did they develop at all? how many were not fertile etc etc... This is give you lots of info and cure some curiosity at the same time about what goes on during egg development... we will see what happens!!

Hes using a homemade incubator Sniper, I know this because I coached him during the build,

and I'm quite surprised he hasn't got any chicks yet...

But never fear Mighty Mouse is here!

Still no chicks, I took out an egg to candle today, thinking; "Maybe they aren't fertile?". I candled it and it was all black. Once I was putting it back into the incubator it fell on the ground and cracked! I feel awful even talking about it, the chicks feathers came out a little but there was no movement. The other eggs are still inside and have not hatched yet.

Don't be hard on yourself, if you fool with these birds long, it will happen again.

lol been there... did it just a min ago actually. Thats a good sign though it means they actually are developing. It takes a few attempts sometimes trying to figure out the hatching process... No reason to get sad over it.
