Well, I'm at day 14 on my first quail hatch in a Hovabator.....120 eggs. They're out of the egg turner, humidty increased to 60+ for lockdown.

I'm not a good candler, even with chicken eggs. So I left about 10 eggs that didn't appear to have developed fully. The other 110 felt "heavy" in addition to passing candling.

We'll see, they're due to hatch end of the week or over the weekend.

I've got some coturnix eggs in the bator. First time hatching these type eggs & thought lock down was on day 15. Guess I stand to be corrected.

Good luck to you both with your hatches. It is addicting...

BTW, 7L Farm, I also lock down on day 15. Not saying that its best, just what I do for coturnix.... Bill

I updated my OP title. I counted wrong. This is day 15. (We set the eggs on March 8th).

But we have 4 already hatched about 30 minutes ago!!! I'm waiting on them to dry and setting up a box with water/food/light to move them out of the 'bator.

LOL...even DH is excited.

They're Coturnix. Have 6 hatchlings now. All are dry, and appear normal so far.

ETA: 4 look to be pharroh/brown, 1 golden, 1 tuxedo. Not sure on the tuxedo. These are my first ones this tiny. I'm not a good judge at this size.
