Day 15 for my Coturnix and getting excited!

Seriously? What a mess up ratio, I’m incubating some bobwhite eggs right now and I’m hoping my ratio will be better.
Strangely enough, in my hatch of 19 successful chicks, 7 were wild type markings (stripes), 12 were Tibetan markings (eyebrows). All 7 wilds, 4 jumbo pharaohs, 1 tuxedo, and 2 fawns, were male. Of the 12 Tibetan types, 3 solid reds, and the rest mostly mixed lineage of Tibetan and Rosetta, 3 were male. It’s so strange that every wild patterned bird was male, makes me wonder if their eggs were more sensitive, I’ve heard male eggs are more tolerant of sub optimal conditions, and mine were lost in the mail for almost a week.

Good luck with your bobwhite hatch! I hope you have a better ratio than I did too. We had to give away five of the males to a feed store, who put them in with 2 silkies! Compared to quail, silkies are huge!
