Day 15 for my Coturnix and getting excited!

they are so fast! once the zipping starts you cant even blink!

Baby #2 (The first to start zipping) just made it out! Poor guy was getting rolled all over by baby #1. #1 seems to think it is his/her job to roll every egg in the bator!

Chick #2. It seems she wants back in her egg!

Baby #1 starting to fluff up. So freaking cute!

Nothing else on any other eggs yet. We aren't even on day 17 yet(Day 17 starts officially in 6 hours) I am hoping that is why.

Now I know why they say it's like popcorn! I was getting worried cause there was absolutely no progress on any of the pipped eggs. I was worried I had shrink wrapped them.

Gave pup his pain killers and took him potty. Came back in. It was no more than 10 minutes since I had last checked. 1 more hatched. Officially on day 17 now. I still see at least 5 more pips and lots of others rocking. So far at 3. If the 5 more pipped hatch as good as the others, I will have 8. From there I will be happy. I hope I get all 38, but I know it doesn't usually go quite that well I am feeling pretty optimistic about getting at least 10! I won't count my chicks before they hatch though

Day 17 ½ now. Woke up to 7 little chicks. I went to bed with 5 in there so just 2 more. They were pretty much all dried up so I quickly took them out. Got them in the booder and when I got back another little one had hatched! I can see 5 more pips, so now just more waiting! 8 Eggs hatched. 30 more in the bator!

If you have any ideas on color please let me know! I have some guesses but I am pretty sure I am wrong. I will try and get better pictures once they are settled in.

I see some Pharaoh, Italian and Tibetan/Rosetta. The Tibetan/Rosetta might be Tuxedos. But you just know for sure, if they become feathered.

Edit: the one in the feed in pic 2 might be very interesting ... can't tell for sure what this will be.

Surprisingly nothing hatched today/yesterday(It is midnight, lol)! It was just the one that hatched Sunday morning after I moved the others to the brooder.

Finally, about 20 minutes ago another one hatched. Thank goodness. One lonely chick in the bator was driving me nuts the last 14+ hours. There are at least 10 other pips that I can see. Today is officially hatch day(Day 18) so I am thinking they will try to make their appearance overnight/today. 29 eggs left in the bator!

Went to bed with 2 chicks in the bator. Woke up to 8 chicks. 1 more zipping now and still at least 4 pips!

Out of the 8 I hatched, 2 were hens!

Seriously? What a mess up ratio, I’m incubating some bobwhite eggs right now and I’m hoping my ratio will be better.
