just went in to check on the little serama chicks and the eggs in the incubator and noticed a tiny crack on one of the eggs, it's only day 15 way to early for it to hatch. what is going on, i have never had a chick trying to hatch this early before, what's the chances of this one surviving. when i candled the eggs on day 10 this one was more advanced then the other 3, i only have 4 that was fertile. it's definitely only day 15 as i keep a record. he's moving around like a good one, i have turned off the automatic turner and put up the humidity, i hope this will not harm the other 3 eggs. has this happened to anyone else.

Have you done Seramas before?

I'm on my first batch and in my research I saw that early hatching is fairly common, *although* that is usually on day 18 or 19.

If it looked more advanced I don't see why it wouldn't survive if it hatches fine. As for how the higher humidity will affect the others, I don't know :/

well the little fellow is out and doing fine. problem is i had to put him in the brooder with the others that are now over 2 weeks old, they seem ok and he's sat under the older serama's. i had to come too work so i now can't keep an eye on them, i have told my hubby to go in and make sure the little one is not being pecked. i think she gave me an egg that was being sat on by the mum and it was already starting to be incubated. the others has another week to go before hatch date is due. i was hoping to introduce all the seramas in their new house together as it will be a new area for all. lets hope they will be ok together.

well update on the little chick, it is doing well with the other 3 seramas, they seem to be looking after ok. its been in the brooder with them for 6 hours and all is ok, does that mean i can stop worrying now.

ok here are the seramas, 3 at 2 weeks old and the little one a day old.

i have another 3 ready to hatch on Wednesday, on lock down Sunday. hope raising the humidity for a short while when the other one was hatching has not harmed the 3 eggs.
