Day 16/17 - ANOTHER cracked egg!!

so it’s day 16 going on 17 and I have yet another cracked egg. It does not look as though the membrane was punctured. I tried to remove part of the broken shell to see but I’d risk puncturing it indefinitely if I messed around with it. I covered the crack with candle wax and candled the egg. I did see movement but it looked like part of it was going into the air cell? I placed the egg back with mama and instantly came on here to get some answers. IF there was movement in the air cell is it pretty much a guarantee the chick dies? 50/50 chance?

Anything more I can do or should look for?

I would just leave it. If mama rejects it she will break the egg and/or eat it. Luckily it will hatch. It is not unusual for eggs to hatch before 21 days.

This poor little baby got stepped on yet again this am and the membrane was punctured. No wax in the world could have helped.

Lesson learned for the next time we hatch chicks. I should have moved mama right away but was just hopeful everything and everyone would be fine. Sooooo insanely sad and bummed. What a sweet baby
