I just received my GQF cabinet incubator for my quail. I had them in another incubator that was turning and stayed at 99.5 F and 45% humidity up until now. They are now in a hatching tray in the new incubator which is at 99.5-100 F and pushing 60% humidity. I had to toss two eggs already that had holes and were rotten. 😱 I never noticed them until today cause they started to smell. I opened them and they were definitely infertile. 48 more eggs to go and see how well they hatch. What day should I expect to see them start hatching?

Isn't 60% humidity a bit low for the hatching phase of Cortunix Quails?

I'm hatching mine at 70-75% humidity.
I know some breeders, going to 80%.

Good luck on your hatch. I hatched out 21 yesterday. Should be a few more this morning. My hatch was on day 18. I have gqf cabinets a 1502 and 2 1202s plus a 1250 Hatcher. They are some excellent incubators.

When the quail start you may have a couple hatch early and may not see much from the other but then when the come it will be like popcorn.

This morning three were out of their eggs by the time I woke up.

My hatch just fine at 60-70 it seems. I heard some people even "dry" hatching quail too.

Congrats on the first ones out.

I ended up with 76 out the eggs I had set.

I have dry hatched quail on purpose and accidental. Had several dry last year when I was flooded out of my house. Seemed to hatch about the same as with added humidity. But outside humidity was high with the flood water. Usually hatch at 60 to 70.
