Hello, I'd like to ask a question. I decided to candle my eggs today and one egg seems perfectly developed, exactly how it should look, but I saw no movement at all. I use a powerful candler so that shouln't be the problem. I'm worried the little chick died, but it seems that it has developed perfectly. Is it possibile that I just missed the movement or that the egg is too dark? I'm hatching silkie eggs. Thanks

I hatched Olive Eggers last month and got 100% hatch. But when I candled a small handful I couldn’t see movement and I knew for sure it was dead but I still added it to lockdown and sure enough they hatched. I remember candling one egg for a good minute and saw no movement but I guess they were sleeping or something. So don’t give up!

Thank you very much, you gave me hope :D

Also, the veins disintegrate within a couple hours of death so if there are veins they're still alive. The little embryos sleep a lot. I always feel bad about bothering them. If they look fine they're still alive. Good luck with your hatch, it's getting close! :D :jumpy

That’s what I was just thinking! The ones I candled where I saw zero movement still had their veins and looked normal. So no movement isn’t always a reason to toss it.

Yes the veins were still there, thank you! The thing is I am really nervous because I put 6 eggs in the incubator and ended up with 3 and they are shipped eggs, so if only one egg doesn't seem right I get very anxious! Thank you again

You're welcome. I know how stressful it is. Just know, there's really nothing you can do to change the outcome. Just keep the temp and humidity where they should be, and let everything else work itself out. We're here if you have any questions. Wishing you the best of luck! :hugs

Hi, I have decided to candle that egg again and saw movement tonight! I have another problem now...the air cell seems too small and I have done a dry hatch, so humidity has always been around 25%. Tomorrow I am supposed to go into lockdown and up the humidity so I am not sure what to do.

Can I see a pic of the air cell? Congrats on the movement!
This is the best pic I could take, hope you can see well! Thank you, I was so relieved when it moved!
