I just put a dozen eggs into lockdown this morning. Before I did, I candled them, and noted, as I had twice before when candling this group, that two of the eggs are much less developed than the others. I distinctly saw movement in both of them this morning, so I left them, but what should I expect from these eggs? Just a late hatch? They definitely don't look close to ready to me. How much more time should I give them? I realize a lot of development can happen in 4 days...

That's a cool little video! Thanks for the advice!

This little video gives you an idea of what develops when - it might put your mind at rest.
Personally I would let them incubate for another 7 days if needed. Then candle if you need to...keep us posted. and good luck!

Well, I guess I will see how they do! As long as they look viable, I will leave them in!
I had a whole second incubator behind my other incubator. They just hatched a day after.

Mind you, I noticed some looked behind in development... I think it was their positioning; many were malpositioned, but MOST hatched.

Were they all put in the same day? I have noticed that sometimes an egg will be bad like it stopped developing half way through and as many as I have candled they looked viable to me but they werent. Contents can move with the very slightest tremble of your hand. My advise ,if you have room is to put them far away from the other eggs as possible. I also have had perfectly healthy chicks hatch from these eggs but they werent late, they were white chicks and I just couldnt see it all .

Yes, they were all put in the same day. I have had 5 hatch already (4 hatched between day 19 and 20, and one hatched overnight). 4 of the rest were doing fine at day 18 but haven't shown any sign of hatching. The ones I was concerned about subjectively seem more developed, but no movement in any of them (yes, I candled briefly since no one had pipped). I removed the first 5 chicks this morning because I had to add water anyhow so I did it then. Around lunch, one of the eggs was rocking, but none since.
