Day 18, Air Cell Too Small - HELP!

Update: It’s now day 22 and there’s no internal or external pip.

Should I be tossing this egg?

I have an egg which is at the end of day 18 but the air cell is much too small.

It looks more like the size for the 14th day. I'm entering lockdown late and keeping the humidity as low as possible so the air cell has a chance to grow before the internal pip. I've candled the egg and there's no internal pip as of yet but it's very dark in there and I swear I saw the egg move in the incubator once.

Is there anything else I can do and will this chick hatch without drowning?
Consider "dry incubation" method, water in incubator is cut off at a certain time to not fill the egg with too much fluid & keep the air cell at correct size. Years ago, this became my regular frequient incubation method with great success. Do a search on this BYC site for that method.

Absolutely nothing, the entire hatch was ruined. A lot of DIS. Will be trying complete dry incubation as the humidity around here is mostly 60% anyways.

Grab a kitchen scale, they’re not expensive at all and well worth the investment. Start dry and weigh and adjust from there at day 4 or 7.

I’m sorry you had such a disappointing result. Much much better luck to you for next time!
