Here we are at day 18 once again....our 5 babies that survived the dog attack on the hatcher are doing well.
-->we named them:
1. Macqyver the survivor
2. Gabriel
3. Nate
4. Joey
5. MUTT MUTT

Yeah well i named numbers 1 and 5 and william named the others LOL!

Anyhoo i have to shoot to work for the day but i have just turned cynthias eggs for the last time, this afternoon into the high humidity hatcher they go!

There are 14 eggs out of 17 that have developed all the way to where at last candling they were essentially all black inside except the air sac.

Cross your fingers all!

Good Luck Aran!!!!

thanks cynthia...i just put the eggs in the hatcher, all good so far...how exciting. The babies we bought from Ideal are growing well. Looks like we ended up with
4 Female mille fleur duccle bantams
1 male " " " "
1Male frizzle black cochin and 2 females
and im not sure about the 3 silkies...all the rest were sexed. Not bad mix at all really!

Our little survivors are all doing well too...all good! I cant wait to see the lil blue/black babies that come out of these eggs! I will keep you posted.

darn it all! I went in to the hatcher room to check this morning that the temp was still ok after adding the eggs last night and the freakin light bulb had blown...the eggs were cool...I have put them immediately into the other smaller incubator which I use up to day 18. Man why am i having such crappy luck with these eggs recently?

I am hopeful that they will all still hatch since my own eggs went through MUCH worse when the dog destroyed the hatcher with the eggs in it, cracking half the eggs and eating the rest...all 5 of the cracked cold eggs hatched 2 days later.

Im sorry cynthia, I will install a second thermostat and lightbulb tonight in the hatcher...has anyone else had this happen where the heat source ( light bulb) blows in the bator? Currently the eggs which are all at day 19 are back in the toasty incubator re warming...i hope the lil guys are ok but obviously this is a freakin disaster!

Aran, I had that happen at exactly the same time in my hatch, but I happened to be standing over the bator and noticed the air temp cooling down. That's the only problem with using a light bulb as a heat source. It'll probably be okay.

hopefully they will be ok...im heading home from work soon and will check on them when i get there...I would like to get them back into the hatcher which is bigger than the bator if its ready again. Man what a bummer, after I really carefully turned them 3x daily and made sure each one was set just right. darn light bulb!
