Just a thought on the blown bulb thing - I wonder if it would work to chain two light bulb holders together and use two smaller wattage bulbs that would both turn on and off with the thermostat.

That way if one went out, you'd still have the other holding the temps reasonably OK until you figured out the light was blown...

Sounds like an excellent idea. I hope one day to replace my bulb with an actual heat element from a bator.

I was actually thinking that since this is the hatcher which is supposed to be at high humidity that I would put a small tank in one corner with an aquarium heater and an airstone bubbling away in it. What do you think?

Hmm, could work. You'd just have to try it, but make sure the newly hatched babies can't access the water. They sure can go all over the place, can't they?
