Anybody else with me? I am under lockdown as of now! So, I have a little problem though..I have no way of getting water in the incubator without opening it....theres only a little hole for air but thats it...so anybody know how I can get water in there without sacrificing my chicks??

I don't have an incubator, but I've read that other people use some kind of tubing, or straw or something to put water in through the vent holes. I guess it depends exactly where the hole is in relation to where the water needs to go.

Yep. Depends on which incubator you have but a straw and syringe usually works well. You can take the jointed straws and make tubes that will reach a lot of places. I found it best for some of the remote water reservoirs to cut the straws fairly close to the joint, split the end of the straw so one will fit inside the other, then tape them together. Maybe put two or three of the "joints' close together. I had one all prepared but never had to use it. The water I put in my 1588 lasted until the hatch began and once the hatch began, the wet chicks drying off kept the humidity way high. I'm actually going to drill another vent hole in my 1588 so I can maybe drop the humidity once they start to hatch. I had five that did not hatch, I think because of the high humidity during the later stages of the hatch.

FIRST PIP!!!! I don't know when it happened exactly, because I woke up and it was there. Oh I am so excited I don't know what to do!!! HA!

I go into lock down tonight!!!! My first hatch too..... Just like you Im not sure how to keep everything wet. I do know that a half sponge keeps my humidity at 65-70, but keeping wet is my issue. My son and I are going to rig up something this afternoon. I have 8 Bl. Copper Marans and 5 D'Unccles going. I started with 20 shipped eggs and after candling this is what I have. The marans are just a blob as I cant see into the shells. Good Luck!!

Tracy in Wisconsin who got 3 inches of SNOW last night YUCK!!!

Second pip!!! First chick is almost out!! WOOO!! Oh how exciting!!!! Poor thing is pushing as hard as he can to get out. Seems to be making wonderful progress!
Yes, I will be sure to post pics as soon as these little buggers come out!!

I went into lockdown at 6:00 last night. I'm really watching them close. I have 12 eggs in a home made incubator that my DH made like the ones his classes used to make for science projects when he taught in KS.
