I set the eggs on Jan 27th in the evening... so I counted the 28th as Day 1... so today is day 18... lockdown...
I just went to take the turner out and add water... and 2 have already pipped and are peeping... and I'm freaking!
I moved as quickly as safely possible... but, I'm worried that I may have harmed the 2 that pipped by having the bator open while I worked...
This is my first hatch... I'm kindof freakin' a little...

stay calm - smile, you will be fine!!!!

Pipping so soon may mean that the temp was a little high....but they're rolling now, back away from the incubator and just enjoy!

Have a happy and blessed hatch!

Get that humidity up high and quick.... sometimes they will even mists the chicks or rub water on the membrane if any is exposed.... that is awesome that they came so early.... are the silkies by any chance?

They are LF Salmon Faverolles

I've been so calm and collected this whole time... I have my plan... dates marked on the calendar... so when I saw those pips... it totally threw me for a loop.

should I mist them or just leave them alone... I filled all the water reservoirs when I had the bator open to move the eggs out of the turner... hmmm... I'm scared to go back in...

No not now.... just leave them alone now.... for future reference if you need to open it after they pipe then you can use a mister... not now though... also if you need to open it you can have them in a bathroom where you can turn on the hot water in the shower or tub and get it nice and humid and then open the bator and do whatever you quickly need to do and then shut it..

But for right now you should just LEAVE THEM ALONE!!!

Thank you Chosen Chicken... I'm gonna leave them alone... well, I mean I'm not going to open the incubator... I will be constantly staring in the little window though... oh my
