I am so new to this and this is the first time I have ever tired to incubate chicks. I am the one in an earlier thread that said I had purchased a Farm Innovator 4200 and only then read the bad reviews concerning it. That set me in panic mode and I also bought a Brinsea Mini Advanced. Then I had so many eggs I decided to use both incubators. I have to say the Brinsea is absolutely amazing for an amateur such as myself.
I also posted this morning that my F. I. had been working very admirably, only to wake up this AM to a circuit that had affected just the outlet that my F. I. was connected too and the heat was below 80 deg!
Even with the candler included in the F.I. and then two other high powered flashlights - I never was able to candle my eggs to see what was going on. So I have been working in the 'dark'.
In spite of all that - here we go, ready or not. I am very nervous and very excited. I am sure I will be hooked into this forever.

Sounds exciting! Do you know how long the eggs were at the lower temp? Sometimes if its a short period of time its ok. Think of it as if your broody hen got up to eat & take a drink of water.

They were fine when I checked last thing before going to bed. When I checked in the morning I saw it had stopped, so I would say not more than 8 hrs.
Thanks,

No sign from my Farm Innovator and today is day 21. My little Brinsea Mini with seven Barnevelder eggs, has one chick hatched!
3 others have pipped. So exciting. Wow! This has been amazing and I am afraid I am hooked for sure.

I had a dilemma just a bit ago. The one chick somehow got his wing under another egg, not hatched yet and he could not get up!
I HAD to lift the lid and move the egg to release him. Now one more thing to worry about. :(

We are about at the same stage....so nervous...on lockdown but nothing yet

what kind of incubator do you have? This is very fun, but I just wish another would hatch so he would have company.

I have another, a Farm Innovator 4200, also in lockdown. I don't hold much hope as the outlet burned out ( I think that is what they call it) and I lost heat drastically two days before lockdown.
So far, not a sign of pipping. I have three others ready to hatch in my Mini Brinsea, if the little guy that has already hatched will leave them alone, lol.
