Day 19 and PIPS!!!

I've got 2 with pips!!! I just glanced in to check and was like, that's a hole in the egg... hey that one has one too!!! It's only day 19... does this mean the heat was a bit high? instructions for incubator said to keep it at 100 and that's what i did... hmmm.....

A very helpful BYCer just commented on my thread, and I had no idea that

my temps could be so dangerous to my eggs. ...It all comes down to

the stupid thermometer. Maybe your thermometer is like mine, and

isn't reading the right temp? I'd look into it.

O well. A lot of people get pips on day 19 (i was one of them on my last hatch) just make sure that the chicks are healthy and active, and it should be just fine!

thanks! i've got 2 thermometers in there- a noral one as well as a digital one, both say the same thing, within a couple 10ths of each other.

als, do different breeds take longer to hatch than others because their shells are thicker? these two are a maran X and an EE X. my last ones were from ym hens and they piped and popped out completely within 30 minutes, which is really short i know... i guess i was spoiled with them! but now that they're 4 weeks, i understand it, their personalities are ones who do NOT like to wait! lol. if mom's not fast enough coming then we'll just fly out and meet her half-way...
