We're so excited. This is our first time hatching. We've incubated in an R-com King Suro, at 99.5 degrees, and 45% humidity. Eggs went into lockdown yesterday, layed on their sides on non-skid drawer liner and I raised humidity to 60% and opened the vent all the way. I was just admiring the eggs when I saw a pip!. How exciting! 20 out of 27 eggs lockdown. It's a blue bantam Cochin. Hard to get a good picture because of the glare, but here it is.

Pip

It's out, after just 6 hours from pip to hatch. It's strong, and healthy, and chirping loudly. Now for some other pips, and friends to join it. Here's a video:

Bantam Blue Cochin, just hatched!

I hope more hatch soon, or at least start pipping, it seems so lonely in there, and kees chirping until we give it attention.

) i keep looking at the eggs to see if there's even any movement.....so far nothing. i can't wait!!

One of our Ameracauna's is out, and 6 others have pipped. Yay, our only lonely seems so much more relaxed now that it has a friend!

I upped the humidity and took the 2 babies out, and one egg that has been pipped for quite some time that i was sure was either dead or in trouble. I took the egg int the shower to "help" it, but it was gone. Had been shrink wrapped (It pipped around 4:00 a.m. and i discovered at 6 a.m. that the humidity had dropped to only 45%). ::sigh:: The other chicks are still happily pipping and pecking and chirping in their eggs.

I am sorry you lost one. I took out one egg that I was pretty sure was clear and it had never developed, the rest I am just watching and waiting.

I opened my incubator, a no no, but they were playing soccer with the eggs that are left so I designed a holder out of an egg carton lid. I got the cardboard damp when I put it in the incubator and the humidity went up to almost 80%. I actually opened the lid a crack to let some of it out. I don't want them swimming. I have one more that pipped a few hours ago. I had one that took over 24 hours from pip to hatch, it seems fine. This is my first time so I have nothing to compare this to.

I can't move them to my brooder yet as it isn't ready. They came 2 days early

My DH told me we had a red heat lamp, we don't. So they are staying the night in the 'bator.
