Day 19 -- no rocking, is this normal?

Wait, wait wait. What is this "NOT STARING AT EGGS 24/7"?! You mean some people actually go off and do other things, like sleep, eat, shower, interact with their families during the last two days? Seriously? Are they not devoted chicken parents?

Hahahahaha! That's kinda of what I feel like. I'm not very busy at work today and I would really like to go check on the eggs. But there is nothing to see yet and I can't open it, either. Ah, 48 (or so) more very long hours.

If you place the eggs on a piece of glass that is perfectly level you will probably see them move. It will not hurt to open the incubator until the first egg pips, but don't open it after they start hatching because the humidity will drop and this could cause them to stick to the shell.

Speaking for myself, the earliest I've ever had an egg pip is day 20, and that was a very rare exception. Just about every one of my eggs pips early on day 21. And the earliest I've ever seen rocking is less than 24 hours before the pip. But I don't see rocking in every egg, or even in most of them. Only about a quarter of them, if that. Some of them jiggle around like mad, but most of them are sneaky stealth hatchers. So if you're not seeing anything, don't worry too much. Especially this early!

This is an old Thread, but boy all of you have made me feel better! It is Day 19, I've not seen any "rock'n" :) But nice to know it's okay that I haven't seen it! This is my first attempt at hatching, so this is fun for me.

Humidity is holding steady at 70%. Temp is between 99.5 and 99.9.

Thanks in advance!
