GG, my 35 pound Redhead Rescue Dog, is excited to go greet the 'Girls'...We head out back to the Sauna and find ourselves greeted in the dark by the Peep, Peep, Peep and Chirp, Chirp, Chirp of 5 Day Old dry, fluffy, happy, and healthy baby chickens.
The Digital Thermo reads a solid 97F. I turn off the heater and replenish the water tubs with fresh water and more feed...Am I sure there is no Pig DNA in these birds? OMG...Where is the feed going? Oh wait, never mind, I see the girls are processing it very efficiently into manure and future compost for the garden.
As I put my hand in the new Coops, Laundry Baskets with Pine Shavings for bedding and plenty of fresh water and Chicken Starter Feed, I find that some of the Girls like to step into my palm and rise above the other Minions... I hold them close and they accept this Old Warrior's embrace...
During the late Spring NW Florida Days the Thermo reads between 87F and 92F. I watch the Chicks on my 2 hour resupply missions and they are happy, healthy, and growing in my Sauna. GG likes to sniff them and they enjoy the attention of a 4 legged redhead...The Animal Kingdom...
