Day 20 and "pipping and hatching"!! DAY 21 update

[Yard full o' rocks]

Well...its day 20 and I have a 'bator with a mix of Speckled Sussex (from Bargain), Polish (from Thepetpaw) and 5 fertility check eggs (of my Del rooster over my BO girls). One SS has hatched already!!! And three other eggs are pipped, 2 more SS and one of my Del over BO. Yeeeehawwww!!

I never get tired of baby chicks


EDIT...its the morning of Day 21 and I now have 1 "idontknow chick", but think its a BR (mistake chick), 2 Speckled Sussex and 3 from my Del roo over my BO girls (very cute little, light yellow EASTER looking chicks).....will post pix after everyone dries off

Good luck! I'm happy that Pepper is doing his job well. Hope the eggs I gave you hatch really well. They should-Dels are pretty hardy critters!

Yes please post pics when they are hatched and dried.I have some hatching in two days under a broody and can't wait! This isn't helping either.LOL Come on lil chicks!!

Where are you located? Oddly enough, my hatch is SUPPOSED to be Speckled Sussex and Polish (with a few Del/Orps thrown in to test fertility). HOWEVER, the first chick born is DEFINITELY NOT a speckled sussex. It has a white head spot, dark gray feathering, slate legs....pretty sure it is a pullet Barred Rock. Shes yours if you are anywhere close....

Shoot,I am in New York.And in my refrain(what's on the bottom of my posts,)my future hen Midnight is supposed to be a BR.OMG I might lose it if I don't get a BR by the end of the year.I mean I'll cry about Blackie.Anyone else that is close?

Good to see you are still hatching. I have to wait for next year due to our weather!

Of course that gives me more time to save for a new bator and the coop expansion.
