Four chicks have hatched and there are 16 more eggs. Should I add more water? I don't want the chicks in there to get wet? One of them is just lying on his back not too far from the water hole....
so not sure whether to add more or not....

there are five now total and I am still just watching. the oldest is now 24 hurs should I still wait before taking any out? now I understand how hard it is to NOT open it and just cuddle those little guys...two are RIRs and two are dark and one is yellow....oh so cute!!!!

NOW THERE ARE SIX TOTAL!!!
so when would you suggest moving them? the oldest is just over 24 hours old....I have windows in the bator and I thought that I would open the window and take them out instead of opening the whole incubator. I also have one duck egg in there that I would like to keep going.....
how neat this is...my two older kids, DH and even my mom have got to see the chicks actually hatch out.....just amazing....I am already collecting to start the new batch...do I need professional help??? LOL

Now, you've gone and done it! You've gotten yourself hooked, sure as the world! LOL, good job on incubating. It's amazing that such a large chick ever makes it out of a little egg. As far as taking the baby out, many suggest you just leave them all in till the last one is hatched and fluffed out, but I rarely leave one in longer than 24 hours. I usually open the lid and DH grabs the chick quickly so we can get it shut and not lose that vital humidity. It's up to you.

well speckeled hen...I have been following your posts on here and have gotten lots of wisdom so I think I will wait a little longer today and remove the two oldest chicks so they will not be lonely in the brooder.....there are still 13 more chicken eggs and one duck egg!!!
I just love it!!!!!
