Im sooooo exited!

Dont worry you will soon find out...muahahha.
You will probably see some rocking(not all the time this happens) and maybe some peeping from the egg if they busted though the air cell. It is quite exciting!!

You will know when the baby pips, it is a small hole in the egg going outward and not inward. It takes a lot of energy for the babies to do this so afterward it will wait for a while to catch its breath and then do a "zip"where it will peck around the egg to bust out.
I will be wating to hear how things go! Good luck with you hatch!!!! What are you hatching?

Keep me posted

A pip is a little bubble on the side of the egg. You may miss it at first look closely. It will grow and then the crack will be apparent. Sometimes they pip the bottom and you will not know until you see bits of shell under an egg. Good Luck you are in for a thrill.

Hey all, its day 21 and there are no signs yet...
So I'm not getting my hopes up...

lol Tsagirl, muahahaha! Nothing yet! But will keep checking...
Thank you for your helpful information. Im watching for that pip!!
thank you, im hatching mixed breeds there are:
- Rhode Island Red
- Australorp
- White leghorn
- Golden laced Cochin
- Speckled (or some other name)
cochin.
- Red Star

and all these are mixed up, as there are roosters and hens of these breeds all in the same pen!!

So im in for a surprise!!

Thank you JimnJay, I just hope that they hatch...If they dont, then it wasnt meant to be, i wasnt meant to hatch them...

thank you both VERY much for your info i really appreciate it and will let you know when and if they hatch.

Did you candle them at all? I would say by the end of day 22, I would check them by candling them.
I am so excited for you!
LOADS OF HATCHING VIBES!! CAN YOU FEEL THEM!!

thank you Royal Ty! I will be leaving them until day 25, and if not hatched by then, I will open them and see what happened and then throw them out.

Tsagirl - I only candled one! I didnt want to kill any so i didnt candle anymore! It was hard to resist the temptation too!
I will take your advice and candle them at the end of day 22 if there is no news.

thank you, and yes, i can feel your hatching vibes~~~lol

Hey guys,
I left them until day 28. Because they werent smelling. Then my dad organised for us to go on holidays. We are leaving tonight. So I decided that I had to give up hope and open them to see what happened.

It was so sad, made me cry.

Out of all the eggs that I opened (all 25) there were TEN babies. They were gone, but they were all developed with feathers and the lot.

I rang mum and she was very upset.

I had put so much work into them and they are gone.

Yesterday I showed my dad some fully grown silkies. He said "do they lay eggs"

I told him that they do, but they only lay small but tasty ones.

He sais "oh ok, i like that one hes very good looking, you can have a bunch of them"

I was so exited.

So now im going to buy some grown silkies, And mum said that I can have 1 rooster, which has his own pen, and one silkie to put in his pen until he has covered her and then i can incubate some silkie eggs, but dad is going to buy me a proper bator.

Its just so hard, seeing your babies that you hand turned and everything dead.

thank you for all your help.
