Hey friends i set eggs 11pm on feb 28 there is no movement no pips nothing. I lost power the 29th so i know there could be a set back. My question is should i let it be or check for internal pips? My incubator is very small and only hold 7 eggs. I had 6 viable to leave in on day 18. Im sure im being impatient. Just wondering in candling would harm at this point.

Yes, you are on day 22. Sometimes they can be late so don’t totally give up hope but yes I can certainly understand the worry.

If they have not pipped candling won’t hurt. Don’t get in such a hurry that you drop one but don’t stop for a cup of tea in the middle of candling either. Slow and steady will be fine.

If it were me I’d wait another day. If there was no action I’d water candle before I tossed them. Get a pot or bucket of water somewhere close to 100 degrees Fahrenheit and float the eggs in it. Let them settle. If a chick is alive inside the egg you will see it wiggle. Some people do this earlier but I save water candling for a last ditch emergency. As long as the egg has not pipped this will not hurt them.

Thanks! I'll wait until tomorrow to candle if there is no progress. I'm also incubating vertically vs horizontally im sure that's the reason I don't or won't see any movement but the incubator is so small they would all fit laying down and thought i would atleast have a pip by now. :/
