Day 21 and nothing yet!!

OMG what did I do........I saw that a lot of the eggs had nothing it them (jsut candled them again) so i opened them and indeed there was nothing. One had a dead chick in it. And the last one that I opened had a live chick.....I paniked and tried to save it but it died a few minutes later. I decied not to touch the other ones....but there is still no movement and it is now day 22....I am freaking out!! And I'm feeling terrible for the one that died.

Don't beat yourself up. I have done it too. Learn from it and move on! Leave them for a few more days!

From other suggestions on other threads people say usually to leave them until day 25. Hopefully you just have some slow developers in there.

I'm the same way my mutt hatch went fantastic, but then I bought eggs (thinking I had it down NOT) spent the money now I have one BCM worth 25.00. 2nd batch bought 18 eggs got 2 BCM chicks worth $40.00. Still dont know if I have to cull one due to I can't same to get its spalled leg right. Now I'm about to buy more and I hope I get it right.

Thanks Chicks4kids....I really appreciate your vibes. Between my final exams and waiting out for the arrival of the chicks, i must have gained 10 pounds. I had brownies, chocolate cake and chocolate chip cookies and don't forget the chips! I am being patient though. I have some that are stagered and are due tommorow. They are from another breeder. I hope that they will hatch better than the others that were due yesterday. Thanks to everyone who sent good vibes. I set some more yesterday that should hatch for the new year and I am getting a new bator on Wednesday. I also found out yesterday that I have a hen that is laying fertile eggs. If chicks are born from them (I put 6 in the bator) they will be weird. They will be a penedesenca x ameraucana mix. Does anyone know if they would produce blue eggs even if they are mixed? This year was a tough one but I know things will get better in 2010!

Thanks again everyone and I will keep you posted.

Well it has been 23 days and my gut was telling me to open the eggs. There was nothing to be found except a bunch of blood and a few dead chicks. I am depressed and wondering what went wrong. Most likely the temps were not good. I have 5 left in the incubator that were stagared and from a different bator, maybe I will get lucky but I doubt it. As I mentionned before I put a new batch in the other bator and am awaiting a shipment of a Hova bator. I will cross my fingers that this time it will work. I guess that it is all about beginners mistakes.
