Day 21 egg explosion

Do not open the incubator to much! The humidity has to stay in. I made the mistake of opening it to much and the live chicks got shrink wrapped. If you do open it I would suggest waiting a bit for the humidity to go back up before opening it again.

For how long was the exploded egg in the incubator?

If you cleaned and disinfected everything shortly after it happened, not all will be lost. I see at least a few eggs that seem not affected and clean.
The egg would have been in for a few hours unfortunately. Once noticed I did take the advice and got a hot water bottle laid a towel on top took the eggs out gently cleaned off with lukewarm water and as quickly as I could clean up the mess, the smell was horrific!
I really hope some survive

It wasn’t boiling and I had a very thick towel over, they also weren’t on it for too long just wanted to try and keep them warm as I cleaned
Pheeeew. that should be ok then.

So we will be waiting for them to hatch, but don't get impatient, they might hatch one or even two days later because of all the messing around.

Hi everyone
Thankyou all for the replies, greatly appreciated. I last candled the eggs on day 18 and marked out the air sacs and they seemed to be full, I did think on day 18 I saw one wriggling but since then nothing. I’ve taken out the bad egg and cleaned up the incubator as it did go everywhere! I also quickly candled a few of the eggs but nothing seems to have changed.
I’ve attached photos of set up and explosion :(:(
so you do have candler...

eggs that did not start develop or stopped developing should be removed when you see there is no movement in them when there should be to avoid explosions.

your marked air cells are rather small for day 18, what was the humidity during incubation?

not 100% sure it is absolutely necessary but if you went into trouble marking air cells, I would set them in egg crates air cells up for lockdown

at day 18 (or later) with a candler you should be able to determine 100% if it is alive or not
