So it’s the start of day 23 still no sign of any hatching at all

candle them and see if they are still alive. there is no danger in dropping humidity during lockdown if there are no externally peeped eggs. If the eggs are behind did you check your set temperature with external thermometer(s)?

I ran a vaporizer in a small room when I incubated some eggs..it helped with humidity during lock down..it's quicker than a incubator for humidity especially if the room is small. And you don't have to worry about opening it..

I’ve just done the float test and all except 10 seemed viable so I’ll keep them in for a couple more days and hopefully will have some chickens

you have a candler that can show if there is an embryo and if it still moving, why you use a float test that might only show that egg is not rotten if that?

why you use a float test that might only show that egg is not rotten if that?

Floating an incubating egg can show movement, but not really a good idea.
Floating an eating egg will only tell you how old it might be.
They float due to evaporation when older.
It will not tell you if an egg is 'good' or 'bad'.
Plus then you've wetted the egg so it should be thoroughly washed and refrigerated.

Floating hatching eggs that are due to hatch will not show you anything, but can harm them as instead of the much needed oxigen to fortify their muscles, the pores will be floated with water.

And even when floating the eggs, chicks can just be asleep and not moving for this reason, so people often get to discard perfectly normal and healthy chicks that would have hatched if left in peace.
