Im a little into day 21 of incubation and 2 eggs out of 9 went into lockdown on day 18, at candling egg #8 was alive and moving and it started rocking a bit last night but no chirps or external pips as of this morning and have not seen it rock again yet, egg #7 at candling was a bit harder to tell but there was slight movement when it went into lockdown, but since then egg #7 has not started rocking At all like #8, my incubator does not smell like anything is rotten or dead when I put my nose to the air hole that is on my vent when vent is closed, what should I do?? Wait a little longer or candle them? Im really trying to avoid any stinky explosions as ive heard the horror stories but have not had it happen since I started hatching 2 yrs ago

When should I check?
By day 23 in the morning if still nothing I take the eggs out and candled them for movement. This is what I do personally others may have another method. At day 23 I candle and look for internally pipping. At this point if I see movement I will usually assist. Even if I see no movement I'll still open the egg as if you would in assisting a hatch to check if the chick is alive. I've only ever had to do this with a maybe 15 or so eggs out of the hundred+ I've incubated. Sometimes the chick has passed others still alive and need little help. It's a gamble. And everyone probably does something differently.

So I candled tonight since my one was wobbling last night and not today should I open since I seen no movement and did not hear chirping
