Day 21 !! Update: Day 22 and I have 3 pips!!!

Good job Menkot and congrats on your new baby. I hope 'he' gets a couple of little friends. jk

btw..what day of the week did you set your hatch. You mentioned you are on day 22, so I thought while you're waiting for babies we can help you with your next hatch...haha

If you set them on a Thursday, they should hatch on a Thurs. If you set them on a Wed and they are hatching on a Thurs, then you temps were slightly too low. Don't worry about what your thermometer said, they are not accurate and you will want to adjust it so your chicks hatch on time. I would suggest about a 1/2 degree up if this is indeed day 22 for you. Do not make any changes for this hatch, but just info for future hatches. Good luck with the rest of your hatch.

I set them on a Wednesday night. I guess if you look at it though they started only a few hours late. I am not sure when exactly they pipped cause I was asleep.

I "think" we have 5 more pips now. I am not sure if I am seeing a pip on one or just a scratch on the egg shell. It is hard to see with them in the carton. I am glad they are in the carton. Junior has been even climbing on top of the eggs. SHE is going to burn her head on the heating element lol.

Oh and it said to keep it on 99.5 but I always had it about 100 so maybe just put it about 100.3 for next time? Wait... can I handle a next time?? Will my nerves take it??

It sounds like it is going ok. When I set at night I count the next day as my set date. You should have some more babies coming along soon.

I wish the others would hurry up. Crazy chick is lonely. every time I go peek in the bator it runs up and tries to climb to me. Evidently it has decided I am mama. Then when I walk off it cries and cries. Poor baby needs company badly.

We have a new baby! It is a crazy color. It is blue and buff splotchy. We have another pip too. That makes 5 more pips to go.

Hopefully we will have a few more pip too.

Well they are supposed to be blue and buff blue X orpingtons. 9 hatched. 6 are orps. 3 are definitely not lol. 3 of them are either turkens or showgirls. Let's just say I am sure their Mama would think they are beautiful. LOL! They are all doing very well but one. It is not walking as well but is very very active so I am hopeful for it. I helped two hatch because they were getting close to 24 hours pipped and no signs of hatching. The membranes had really dried out. One of them is doing perfectly. The other is the one that is still kind of weak. One of the other chicks snatched its umbilical stump off as soon as I put it back in the bator. I don't think that helped matters. I am having to keep the ugly.. I mean different chicks separate. The others go after them like they are breakfast. I am hoping after they dry they won't bother them as much.

I am rather proud. I have 9 out of my 14 eggs hatch. I threw 2 away when they started seeping about 8 or 9 days along. I don't hear peeping out of the last three eggs so I don't hold out much hope for them. For a first hatching attempt I think I did ok especially since they were shipped eggs.
