Shrink wrapping is when the membranes dry up and shrivel to the chick like shrink wrap rendering it unable to hatch.

How will I know if this happened? Do I justbwait a few days see if they hatch and if not check them out and assume the worst? Im at a loss and feel so bad thinking I could be the cause of them not hatching..

Give them a few more days and then candle and float test them. Once you are sure they are gone, open them up and see. Shrink wrapped chicks are fairly obvious.

To float test an egg that is past due, place the egg in lukewarm water. Only the air cell should be above water with a fully formed chick. Let the water settle. The egg may drift in circles for a minute. Once it is still from being put in, watch for movement. Little wiggles and jiggles of a live chick should be fairly noticeable in water.

Thank you. We have 1 hatched, 1 hatching, and one pipped! If nothing happens in the next 24-48 hours with the other 6 I will try that.

Just make sure you do not float a pipped egg. If there is a pip, the chick may drown.

We have had 2 successful hatches nw. We have a third looking like its starting to hatch. This is so exciting! :-D

We had two more hatch overnight and another this morning. Getting there box up to temp now to put them in this evening.
5 chicks/ 9 eggs. Waiting a few more days to see if maybe more will hatch. :-D
