Okay this is our first attempt at incubating. We are on day 22 with a forced air incubator. The temp is set at 99 degrees. When candles we found 7 to have veins/signs of a chick. Now there is nothing today, no movement, sound, nothing. So I tapped on the eggs and listened but didn't hear anything. Should I candle them? Is there a way to check if they are alive or do I give up? Help please. I know this has been listed before but everyone else seems to have hatches theirs. Please help this new chick mama out...I need them to hatch! Thanks in advance.

I just hathced out 6 chicks from a batch of two dozen. Which sounds disappointing but the power in my house went off twice during incubation. So I was lucky to get any. They starting pipping day 24 and out by 25, im not completely sure if that was to do with the temperature being out a few times or the humidity being out of whack. But with any hatch, I always leave eggs in the incuabtor to at least day 25 for any late hatchers and make sure the humidity is high. Just dont open the lid of the incubator and add some more humidity. Good luck.

Ive never drowned chicks in lockdown by adding humidity. Obviously you wont be adding excessive water like putting the eggs in water etc. Just a container inside the incubator. I like to put a container of warm water with a cloth inside so the water lasts longer and seems to hold the humidity in.

I know this thread is old but I was hoping someone out there could help me?? Very first time with incubator I have 5 eggs in and today is day 22. On day 20 one egg was peeping. Today and yesterday nothing. I candled them this am to see if any movement and all seemed to have a very faint flutter in them. Is that normal, since they are so much bigger now you won’t see much right??? I also put a damp cloth on them every day as well. My humidity and temp is where it should be. I’m just so worried this is awful
Please does anyone out there have any suggestions for me??
