I think the chick is dead but I am not sure....This egg has been normal the whole 21 days.

Yesterday I candle and notice the whole egg was dark you can't even see the air sac. still nothing today no pip nothing...

Is the chick dead???

If you put it to your ear, do you hear anything? If you tap, does it make any noise or tap back? How's your humidity?

Before assuming it's dead, depending on how long it's been, I'd maybe make a teeny tiny hole where the air cell was to see if babe is alive, but probably wouldn't do much more than that. After my experiences with intervening, not even sure I'd do that unless it was one that I absolutely positively desperately needed/wanted to hatch.

I chiped the top where the air cell would be and baby was dead.

I had to chip away and applied a small amount of sterile water to the 1st layer of membrane all I could see what was black fluid so wasn't willing to open that fully to see if there was any development humidity is so important it's untrue I had one fully formed chick that had died all the eggs where also extremely small one chick looked way to big and I was shocked she was even in there the other chick was extremely small but I had no movement no sounds nothing and due to me not knowing at the time how to correctly open the egg messed everything up as she was alive and moving so I've just learned to leave them till at least a week after their hatch day and taught myself how to open the eggs correctly and not harm the two membranes in the process that one chick could have still been alive today feel so bad but she was so behind on development she would have needed at least another or so
