Hi there.

I had 4 chicks incubating. 3 olive eggers and 1 silkie! Everything was processing fine and looked good on day 18. On day 21 all 3 olive eggers hatched!
But it is now the end of day 22 and still no pip from the silkie. I candled the egg when I moved the 3 olive eggers and I see the air sack and veins but no movement. Is it likely the egg will hatch?

Thanks!!

Maybe, maybe not. Some eggs take a day or two longer. Some eggs quit right at the end because the chick can't make it out for some reason. I would wait until day 24 and then toss it or do an eggtopsy.

Also, if it's already dead now then the veins will break down a bit over the next few days, and you'll be able to see them less clearly. So you will be able to be sure it's dead before tossing.

Hey, did your silkie hatch? I've got 3 eggs, one has hatched, one has pipped and one there is nothing. I'm day 22 so fear it may have quit at the last minute 😔

Hi. The silkie never ended up hatching unfortunately but it also never pipped! I wouldn’t give up on the one that has pipped. I’m no expert but I’ve read about assisting the hatch for the one that has pipped in some cases! May be worth a shot

I also waited until day 25 before getting rid of the egg. I didn’t have it in me to open up and see what happened!

Aaawwww I'm so sorry she never hatched. Thank you so much for replying. I think I will leave the one that has pipped and check the last one after. I still have a little hope
