Put eggs under broody hen 22 days ago. She sat on them very determindly but now on day 22 there is still no pipping or movement. Are they alive? One seems to have something go from side to side when you move it and has grey dots on it. What can I do to help and will they be ok? Thanks Chubblechooks

We have 7 under her and we have taken some and listend for pipping but there is no sound. What else could we look for?

it's a waiting game now. You could candle to see if they stopped growing some time ago, but if the chick is mature it's hard to see anything in there at this point.

Hope for the best I think!

Thank you are hoping but apparently the eggs we've got should hatch on day 20 so I think that maybe we won't have any:(

I just had a super-late hatch from a pair of broodies. The first chick hatched after 30 days under the hens and over the past week 4 more have hatched, including one this morning(overnight?). I shared the story here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/661113/unusual-broody-hatch.

It's been fairly cold for the past month where I live and apparently cooler temps can lead to a slower hatch. I would not give up yet!!! I hope you have some peeps soon!
