Today is day 22 of 7 silkie eggs that I have under my broody hen. I candled 2 of the eggs tonight and there is a lot of movement inside the eggs, but no signs of internal pips. And I see very little to no room in the pointy part of the egg. It was cold the first week, but I had a chick hatch on time last Friday. Thankfully mom is holding tight to the eggs. I guess my question is, how long do I wait? I’ve never had a late hatch.

I agree with the post above.

Let the Broody do her job and you will have very happy chicks

I could finally hear peeping in the eggs last night. How long does that typically last before externally piping? Day 25 today and of course I’m not home to check on them.

Make sure Momma hen has some food to give them. She will take care of them for you

It could be 2 days from hearing peeping to when they hatch.

Make sure they will not fall out of the nest, and a chick waterer and feeder are close.

She may be a bit cooler body temperature than normal hens or nest insulation is letting in some of that cold air. Ive had some go 3 days late because of lower than expected incubator temperature. Hang in there.
