I have my first batch of eggs in my incubator and its now day 22. When I candled the eggs they were so dark and full i couldnt see thru them at all. so far ntohing has happened and i am wondering if I should give them a day or 2 more to hatch?

There are several things that can affect when chicken eggs actually hatch. The average incubating temperature is a big one, but there are other factors like heredity and humidity that can affect it. Sometimes people count the days wrong. Theoretically they should hatch on the day of the week you set them. If you set them on a Tuesday, then theoretically they should hatch on a Tuesday. But those other factors could enter to change theory into actual practice.

If your incubator was just a little bit cool, hatch can be delayed a couple of days. I'd at least wait until day 24 and probably day 25 before I gave up.

Im on Day 25 and so far nothing. I might candle the eggs tonight to see if they are alive. There's no smell and temp is at 99.5 to 100. any help? Why wont they hatch

I agree. Maybe your thermometer is off and the temp is cooler than you think. If your incubator is a little cool then you hatch can be delayed a couple of days. I would also wait at least until day 24 and probably day 25 before I would give up too.

no i havent heard anything from the eggs and i am only using the thermometer that came with the incubator
