Newbie to hatching and quail!! I had 5 hatch on day 18 and nothing since. It just started day 22 tonight. They’re all celadon Coturnix and are very dark eggs. Hard to candle. I can only see air pockets in 2 of the 10 remaining. One was stinky and I removed that a few days ago. No movement, sound, etc. from any of the remaining. I’m using a Nuture Right 360 and the temp and humidity seems to have been consistent. I looked and there are no cracks. Etc. in the remaining eggs. Is it over? It seems that they would have hatched closer together if the remaining were viable. I floated a couple and they float fine with 1/3 above the water. Is it possible any more will hatch this late? Can they be viable if you can’t see anything inside? Seems not. How do I dispose of them. I’d like to see if anything was growing inside. Do people crack them open and see what may have happened? It seems to be the way to learn. Does that make sense? Advice please... 😬. The 5 that hatched are just beautiful!!

Seems that your hatch is still successful, :thumbsup just not 100% A possibility is ,,,, not all of the eggs were fertile, and some may have developed, and then stopped for whatever reason. :idunno
I would crack the eggs open to view, but do it outdoors, since some may have an unpleasant odor when opened.
Your next hatch can possibly turn out better since you gain experience with everyone you complete. Your incubator is a popular one that many peeps are very happy using.

WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and:welcome

Thank you so much... I hope that’s right. It’s so hard to know!!

I cracked the remaining 10 open today and there were 2 that looked about 90% ready. A couple were unfertilized and a few looked like globs that started and never went further. Any ideas what the causes could have been for the 2 that came so close? They look normal. I’m just trying to see what may have happened. I did take out all but one that were born within about 6 hours. I opened it twice for that. They were bouncing the eggs around so I wasn’t sure what to do. I left one in that was newly hatched so they’d have some hatching noise. Is it possible that the 2 that were almost ready had issues with my opening the incubator? They weren’t stinky really so it doesn’t seem there were cracks. Since I’m new to this I’d be happy to hear any ideas so I’ll learn something. Is it better to let the newborns go crazy around the unhatched eggs that open it up? I removed super fast so maybe 7-8 seconds. That could make a difference I’m sure tho. I don’t feel like I learned anything!!! 🧐. I’m happy to have my five but I’m so curious about those 2. They were obviously on there way. It seems like “user error” to me...
