Day 23, 5 eggs left that have not pipped....How long should I wait

before discarding the eggs? Is there anyway to see if the chicks are still alive? Can I poke an air hole in them and try to save them?

Same question here, I have 4 left that looked good when candled so it is just a waiting game at this point.... not sure HOW long of a game it should end up being though.....

I think by day 23 I would candle to see. I usually give up on them by then.

The eggs are completely dark, so I think they are viable. I just don't know if the chicks died or ???

Tap on the eggshell & see if you get a Peep in response. If you don't, it probably died. If you hear a peep, I would go in & get it out. I had an egg left in the hatcher, and on day 28 I decided to turn it off. later that night, I heard a peep, and there was a half pipped chick. Although I got it out, it didn't make it because it was too long in the shell, and its legs were too deformed at that point to straighten out.
