day 23 help! egg wriggling but not piped!

Water, but it doesn't last as long, & it might drown your chick.
OK so I tried to peel a little more shell of to take a look and the airsac is a bit ripped with some blood, but I cannot see where this chicks beak is. The egg is still moving and wriggling. I can see in the egg slightly and I can see its body pushing against where the air sac has split. There is still no peeping.i don't want to assist further rigtt now as there is some fresh blood.

Okay, alittle bit of bleeding is okay. As long it's not a lot of blood it's fine. The tear in the aircell will probably help the chick get in there quicker. Wait, & see if it's able to get in there?

It's really kicking alot now so fingers crossed it can get its beak in there.
As long as its active its a good sign

this is my most stressful hatch yet!
5 weeks ago i hatched some in my incubator. they all hatched fine apart from one who hatched with a ruptured yolk.
normally its easy under a broody....but this year i let a first timer hatch them. she left the eggs once 2 had hatched!

Some broodies aren't trustworthy. Sometimes you have to remove the first couple of chicks to prevent the hen from leaving the nest to soon.

I assumed she would be like my other broody, I was so wrong.
This little chick in my Incubator is still alive. Still has not poked its beak out yet though.

unfortunately she didn't make it. there was no movement this morning so i opened the egg. the little chick never managed to break her beak through into the airsac. i think perhaps the chick was slightly in the wrong position.
