Day 23 I just heard what I thought was a peep!

Don't do anything but watch. They probably are peeping. Hopefully with being on day 23, they will start pipping soon. You don't have to do anything. Just make sure your humidity is up to 50-60% so they don't get stuck to the shells. How exciting! Come on Babies

Thank you "Love my critters" I needed that reassurance. I now have my first pip!!! 1 out of 4 in the incubator. Crack is not about 1/8 inch in diamater. I added extra wet sponges to keep humidity up. Now the wait.

I have had them take up to 25 days! I have seen some take 28. Just be patient. Keep humidity up and keep lid closed!!!!! If bator is opend it can shrink wrap the chickies in their shell membrane! Sending you good hatching vibes!!!!

Good Luck and God Bless!

I'm happy to report back that chick #1 hatched out at 10:30 pst last night. Sorry for the late report - I had to go to work. He's s strong and loud!!! The other 3 eggs are just sitting there with no pips. I keep hoping the little loud guy will get the others going? When I last candled all eggs appeared full of chick with the air sac. How long should I keep the little fellow in the incubator with the other eggs? I'll send a pic as soon as I figure out how!

I'd give him atleast 24 if not 48 hours. His yelling may help hurry the others along!

Congrats!!!
ADDED: they are fine for 3 days with no food or water. The yolk sac they just absorbed has plenty to get them through. That way in the wild they can wait for the whole bunch to hatch before mom starts to teach them to eat and drink. When you place them in the brooder I dip the beak in the water twice before letting them go on their own. That way they know where and what it is. Just sprinkle some feed on the papertowels for the first few days. That way they will figure out what is food!
Good Luck and God Bless!
