Here’s a good chart that shows what eggs should look like on each day:

They look different at each stage. But if they were getting ready to hatch you’d see a shadow black figure moving slightly or a lot.

Your egg should most definitely look like the day 18 egg on the chart

it was all black except for a little on the bottom of the egg
