Day 23, thought this unhatched chick was dead -

I just did this today!!! I thought for sure it was dead because two others were, but this one is still loving around in the membrane! It hasn't broken into the air sack yet but I broke the shell . I bumped up the humidity to 70-71%, is there anything else I can do?

I just found your post here on this ancient thread! - I don't think I'd break the membrane yet, just put a damp paper towel over it so the membrane doesn't shrink.... let the chick stay in the warm bator and finish hatching...

I know it's such an old post but it was perfect for what was happening with me. The chick seems to not even know its shell is cracked, I can see it still moving inside it's membrane. I'm worried once it pipps it'll hatch too fast cuz of the broken shell

Maybe not. I think the important part is that when the chick pipped through the internal membrane, it had a chance for it's lungs to get used to breathing air. Since it was already at that point, you may be past the point of danger...maybe?

No it hasn't broken the internal membrane, it's still in it. Breathing through the walls of the shell.

Oh wow. I'm not sure what to expect? I guess if it's doing alright, just let it rest until it's ready to come out.... I know that if it isn't ready, it can still be attached to the shell, through the membrane and if you try to remove it, the chick can bleed to death...You have to wait until the blood vessels let go of the shell, then the chick is ready to move to the next stage.
