Believe me when I tell you that I have been OB. SESS. ING. over these eggs for the last 48+ hours. Panicking. Imagining them suffocating inside their shells. No pips, no movement. I was convinced they were all dead & I had somehow caused it. Last night I couldn't take it anymore and poked a hole in the one with the biggest air pocket. I saw movement!! So I put it back. This morning I saw a beak in there!

Tonight there are three perfect little peeplets, hopefully with the other three soon to follow. That'll be days 24 & 25!

Mama hen has been so perfect, doing everything right while the silly human sits there freaking out. I had no idea this would be SO stressful! And I'm not even using an incubator! 😂 I am so nuts.

Looks like 2 girls and a boy so far :)

I’m just finishing day 23 and I think I still have 6 viable eggs... I’m freaking out just like you. Scared my babies are gonna die and it’s gonna be my fault

I feel the anxiety. Day 20 here. My hen, Delta, was full guard dog this morning when I put food in her maternity ward. I think we're getting close. I don't want to disturb her anymore than necessary but I may go in after dark and lift her to see it there are any peeps or pips.

updating my earlier post.

I went out this afternoon because I was curious and found a dead chick under Delta. I just reached under her to feel for the eggs and found it. Didn't feel any broken shells. Now I wonder if the others are dead in their shells. Can I take her off the nest and candle the eggs tonight? As long as the eggs are handled very gently and place exactly back the way the are? If there are any pips I won't touch them. What do I do? She was much calmer this afternoon too.
